In America, European Football is known as Soccer. This is because Football is the term used for the national US sport. Here is Europe we just call the biggest footballing event as "The World Cup" in America it is better known as the World Soccer Cup or the Soccer World Cup. What all Americans do not fully understand yet is that the World Cup is officially the biggest Sporting event on the entire planet, bigger than even the Olympics! However, Soccer is growing in popularity over in the US and if the sport hits the country, in the way that Football has won over us Europeans, then the USA will be a force to be reckoned with. Please don't get me wrong as I already believe that the US has a great national team, they are again in the World Cup finals which proves that, but until the Sport gathers more national interest, that's all they will be "a great team". I hope I don't have to eat my words come the world cup final this July 11th but i'm fairly sure i'm making sense.
